I have my athlete Kristi in town right now and we have been having a ton of fun. Lots of running, lifting and swimming with her today. I’m hoping she can walk tomorrow!

It’s late and I’m tired, so I’m off to bed.

Here’s todays videoblog!

  1. I would text her “hey, I’m in Boulder riding, want to meet up after for coffee? or “I’m off Fridays, I could drive up and meet you for lunch” And each time was met with a non-answer. I just thought it was really odd. She just gave the impression that she wasn’t used to meeting up with her athletes and really wasn’t interested in meeting me. She did a good job coaching me and I got through IMTX, so no major complaints.

  2. I totally agree about the face to face connection. In 2011 for my first IM, I had a coach who was in Boulder, and never once did she say she wanted to meet with me in person, even when she knew I would be riding up there. It really struck me as strange and was one of the reasons why I didn’t go back to her for CDA in 2013.

    1. It’s interesting Erin, I will say that when you are coaching a lot of people it’s easy to think they are okay without the connection. In the future I would urge you, and anyone who is reading this, that instead of waiting for them to offer, ask if that’s something they can do. It’s a two way thing. Be willing to ask for them to take the time with you and them make sure you take them to lunch after :)
