How come I don't see an M-dot tattoo in your swim video? Was that tweet just a joke?

Sonja,

My opinion is that for an open-water swimmer you have a pretty decent stroke.

One thing I would focus on is when you breath, your down arm swings out a bit wide with the catch. Try to keep everything underneath your body, where more strength lies.

There are some other things dealing with your kick that I thought of, but if you haven't 'dove' into that aspect yet I will let you fix what you can first.

But again, your stroke...especially for open-water...is pretty solid.

Sonja! You are a totally different swimmer! It's so great to see you showing such strong progress. You look so much stronger in the second video, it's amazing. Keep it up! I'm swimming scared ;-)

PS - Unfortunately, kicking has almost no correlation to run/bike speed...my 5k best is about 4 minutes slower than Jordan's, but I destroy him on kick sets...hahaha =)

Thanks Kelly!

I haven't even begun to delve into my kick. When I get out there, I just kick. I know I'm not doing a 2 beat kick, but as to whether it's a 4 beat or a 6 beat I have absolutely no clue.

No kick work yet, and I seem to be a miserable kicker when I compare myself to my lane mates, which confuses me since I run and bike all over the place.

Next time I go I will ask about kicking!

First of all, I think this is so great! I'm getting so much out of you working on your stroke, so thanks!

Secondly, I have a question about your kick. Have you talked with you coach at all about the "style" of kick? Just wondering, because from I have read differing opinions on flutter-kick vs. 2-beat kick, etc. and was wondering your thoughts/experiences with that?
