May 13th - Every Day in May

All time record REM sleep last night at 2 hours and 36 minutes. Dang! Who’s building brain cells?! This girl!

Health is Physical:

I went for a cruiser run today around the hood for 5+ miles easy and with Troy on the MTB. I think my body is starting to get used to the higher running volume, and my legs didn’t feel so bad. The weather was on point and the miles flew by. I’m making my way across Tennessee virtually! One day at a time!

Health is Mental/Emotional:

I dove back into the Handbook for New Stoics today working on what’s in my control and what’s not in my control. It had me pick an event every day over the last week and record the things about the event that were in my complete control and the things that were in my incomplete control. Then today, after a week of doing this I drew conclusions. What I noticed was that everything in my incomplete category are things I was afraid of happening, ashamed of happening, or worried about. And everything in my control column felt rather grounding, no fear, no shame, no worry. I may not have the tools to take wise action with my controlables, but I recognize I am in control of the action.

Impulses, cravings, tastebuds, triggers, others feelings, thoughts, reactions…. all that is out of my complete control, but wishing, learning, acting, decisions, intent, asking… those are all in control. Good stuff!

Loved this:

Much suffering comes from a disconnect between what you want to happen and what actually happens.

Health is Spiritual

I finally went for it, a spiritual bath. Holy moly it was insane. It’s like a normal bath, but you dump as many decadent bath products in as you can handle and then luxuriate. I think there is a lot of warm water in the afterlife for me. Something about hot tubs, hot baths, hot springs are deeply connective to the soul.

I actually wondered in the middle of this bath if I could give up meditation and just take baths.

Insights

Today has been a day so good it kinda knocked me off my rocker. It’s amazing how the universe speaks sometimes. I’ve got a mini adventure planned for tomorrow and I’m excited for it!

Until tomorrow… in good health.
