Every Day in May - Prelude

We’reeeeee off to see the wizard!

I’ve decided that May is the time for an aggressive foundational + aspirational one-step-at-a-time journey in the direction of Health. Because, it’s #mycalling whether I like it or not.

I’ve been getting up every day playing with the concept of what does Whole Health mean? Really, what does it look like for me, what fits, what doesn’t? And when my friend Jonny told me the adage “Every Day in May” about a running streak he was thinking about taking on, I started wondering what “Every Day in May” would look like for me. What could I take on for 31 days?

I could run every day, or even follow in the footsteps of greats before me and take on the Calendar Club where you run a distance equal to the day on the calendar. That sounds like hard work, and lots of exercise, two things which I have been known to love and also struggled at finding balance with. Humm?

Or I could throw the running out the window and take on 31 podcasts, books, and studies to learn more about health and personal growth. My brain would get so much exercise! Humm?

Or even better I could select 31 peaks to climb, oceans to swim, trails to explore during May to superchange my souls desire for nuance and adventure around our beautiful county. How drunk my soul would feel at the end of May with so many new experiences!

But none of these in isolation felt right. In order to make progress towards my calling, to wake up every day seeking terra firma, I needed to devise a combo platter. I sampler of awesome, a month dedicated to being Wholey Healthy. I know Wholey isn’t a real word, and that’s okay, it’s more of an aspirational word!

And thus, I sat down with all my fancy colorful pens and big thick paper, and I drafted a po po platter, a shmorgusboard of harmonious endeavors that would send me on a health-venture.

Every day in May is Foundational. That means Eat Well, Sleep Well, Meditate. (YAWN)

BUT ALSO, Every day in May is Aspirational.

That means Adventures, Exercise and Education (EXCITE)

It’s my own personal exploration of Terra Firma, solid ground, and I’m stoked to get started.

To Terra Firma…
