Courtney Home - Lighting up the World's Toughest Racecourse

Courtney Home was one of the racers on the World's Toughest Race, and she has moved through the race with just relentless positivity.

I wanted to gain her insights into where that comes from, and we had such a pleasant conversation that it allowed me to look at other’s experiences from another perspective.

Here are some thoughts for you to draw inspiration from:

1. Allow for that low moment to wash over you and ask for what you need.

In one of her lowest moments during the race, Courtney asked for a minute to sit down because she was just too tired from all the toughest challenges they had to go through.

So Courtney asked for what she needed. She shed some tears and allowed her team to support her – to embrace her.

We all have moments of sadness and lack of self-belief, and we just have to embrace those.

Remind yourself at that moment that you are more than you think you are because there's something special that happens in the tragic transition of allowing.

2. Don’t forget about your cheerleaders.

We all have so many people who are backing us up in our endeavors in life. Whether they’re providing a listening ear, a helping hand, a positive email, whatever it is – there's so much that we can draw on.

3. You’re in the race not to win –  but just to learn and live.

Many times, we feel like we have to keep hustling and keep going. We feel this need to stand above the rest and get to the finish line first. We have an urge to win.

But we have to be reminded that we’re not always in it to win it because we're here to live. We’re here to learn. We’re here to immerse ourselves in different cultures.

And just appreciate the race – and life – for what it is.
