Whole30: Day5 - A Work Day Really

Wake Up: 7:30 I fell asleep at about 9:50 last night, resulting in 9 hours and 40 minutes of sleep. Dang Sonja. Well done. I woke up at 2am to pee and thought I was wide awake, then after peeing I was back out super quick. I woke up at 7:30 and guess what woke me up? My STOMACH. It was growling and HUNGRY! I was supposed to get in an hour run today but my Garmin was dead. I put in on to charge, then the entire day got away from me. One thing after another. Sundays are when I write schedules and talk to most my athletes and schedules took most the day today. I literally spent the whole day in my run clothes hoping I would get out the door. Finally at 7pm was my opportunity, dark outside, and Troy and Annie wanting to take the car to see Thor. I just called it a wash, told them to go have fun, and just wrote the day off as "rest."

Breakfast: 8:25am

Yup, I had leftover meatloaf for breakfast. It was so good. I have to find a Whole30 ketchup, although I'm wondering if it's the sweet of the ketchup that I really am missing. A sweet potato with ghee, an avocado with RSR, and a tasty tangerine. Super yum! photo 6

Lunch: 12:30

Laundry, cleaning, you name it, but come noontime my tummy was giving me the natural signals that it was time to eat. More meatloaf, green beens and sweet potato. Filling and all just reheated food already in the fridge. After lunch I put a whole chicken in the crock pot to do it's thing.

Dinner: 5:45pm

I feel like we are in our 70s eating at 5:45, but I'm glad it wasn't any later. I was ready! The chicken in the crockpot was a bit overdone. I think our crockpot cooks hot. It's always cooking things quicker than it's supposed to. We pulled all the chicken off, put the bones back in the crockpot, added water, onion, celery, bay leaves, and carrots, and now it's doing it's thing making chicken stock in the crockpot. I sautéed up some mushrooms in Ghee, and steamed some asparagus. I love asparagus! Add some avocado for fat and we were all full and satiated before leaving the table. Annie loves mushrooms...broccoli too.

Homework:

The Whole30 email blast today talked about parties and social outings while on Whole30. It discussed some tactics for making it work like bringing your own food, eating before you go, enlisting helpers to keep you from indulging, etc. Today Annie and Troy wanted to go see the movie Thor. Now, honestly, it wasn't like they were asking to go see a RomCom, so I didn't really want to go. Thor hits a whole bunch of shit with his big hammer I assume. But the big reason...

THE POPCORN

Popcorn is my favorite food. My all time favorite food. I really love popcorn. It "emotionally" satisfies so many of my cravings at once. Snacking...I love to snack. Salt....I love salty food. Crunchy...I love crunchy textures. Plus I just really love popcorn.

At this point in Whole30, I was not ready for movie popcorn temptation. Heck, I just made it to day5. I made it to day4 last time, so this is only one day more. Very risky, and I can't take my own health"ier" popcorn because that's not Whole30. The idea of taking veggies to go see a dude hit stuff with a hammer just did not sound fun. So I stayed home, saved a little money, and avoided the torture.

Now I'm pretty sure avoidance was not on the list of acceptable social situation behavior, but right now, I'm going with it. But because it kinda scared me, the risk of popcorn, that means it's something that I need to do, and I need to move forward with. Therefor I am tasking myself with going and seeing a movie with my family DURING Whole30. I'm going to go smell the popcorn, bring some veggies, maybe an avocado or two and enjoy a flick. That day wasn't today, but that day will happen, and soon.

Gotta do what scares the shit out of you. Just gotta do it!
