Whole30: Day 3 - OMG call me Superwoman
Wake Up: 7:00am SPROING! Totally woke up with vigor today. And a smile on my face. Halle-frickin-lujah! Got to bed at 11pm last night so 8 solid uninterrupted hours. I had FOOD DREAMS! Two of them. In the first one I was face to face with Cheese and Pepperoni Pizza. It was deep dish and someone was serving me the slice. I vividly remember the melted cheese all stringy and just typing that makes my mouth water. It was heavenly. I didn't dream eating it, just being served it. Then I had a longer dream about Troy making some food in the kitchen and he was trying to convince me to throw away the pointy ends of the asparagus. I was like "no, that's the best part" and he was like "No, you throw these away" This went on and on and on until I woke up!
Breakfast: 7:35am
Boom! The Egg Muffins that I made yesterday were waiting for my breakfast plate. They were great. I totally loved them and stuck some in my pocket for my bike ride. I also had 1/2 an avocado, 1/2 cucumber slices, and a fruit salad with Pineapple and Banana mixed together.
Swim 9:45am
After getting everyone fed and off to school I met Michelle for a swim. She is in full taper mode for IMAZ, whereas because of Kona I still should be working a bit harder. I should have swam 3K but her 2K set was calling my name so I did that with her. The last set of 5x100 was a bit painful, but good for me to get the motor running.
Snack 11:00am
Before heading out on my ride I knew I needed to eat something. But if I did a full on lunch that would come back to bite me in the ass. So I went for a paired down lunch that would hopefully give me enough energy to have a successful ride. One Egg Muffin, 1/2 a left over hamburger patty, and 1/2 a banana. I would have had a whole banana but there was a 1/2 that needed eating.
Bike: 11:30am
A little over 3 hours and 60 miles. The weather was colder than Michelle and I hoped and the wind was an evil b!tch, but we got it done. I put in quite a bit of time in the Ironman range and was happy to be able to hold onto it and not hurt too bad. I am definitely coming around. I ate like normal and had 45oz Osmo, and 2 Picky bars, one at 1:00 in and another at 2:06 in. That held me. No bonking, consistent energy and time at IM zone. Super successful ride.
Proud Moment: 5:30pm
After my ride Annie had vision therapy and after vision therapy we all go and get ice cream and Dairy Queen (our teenage neighbor Ann came along for the ride today). Yes, on day 3 of Whole30 I walked into a Dairy Queen. But here's the super cool part. I was good. The sugar smell did not entice a sugar dragon. I just let everyone get what they wanted, paid for it, and then they sat and ate and I just sat there AND DIDNT EAT. Didn't need it, was ok with not having it. It actually kinda shocked me. Temptation faced...score!
Dinner: 6:30pm
I was HUNGRY...but not HANGRY (there's a difference). I had an Egg Muffin while I cooked to hold me over so that hungry didn't turn into hungry. Tonight I made Adobe Stovetop Chicken from Wildtree. I used EVOO instead of grape seed, and used Coconut Aminos instead of soy. This was a GINORMOUS hit with Annie, Troy .... and Ann who stayed over for dinner. I roasted some parsnips/carrots/leeks with EVOO and Balsamic vinegar. Also had a little side salad of tomatoes and cucumbers. I had seconds on chicken and roasted veggies. It was a great meal.
Mood Grade: A
I had a great day today, I was happy and peppy all day long. Mood was totally consistent, even in the face of a considerable headwind and ice cream temptation. I could conquer the world today. I connected with Troy in the evening, we had some deep conversation. I was a good mama to Annie, she was well loved and had a consistent mama today. Wish I could have more of these days.
